13 young oline & the horrendous english day

[trans.:
21 October 1998
Horrendous English day! Mrs. XXXXX was terribly annoying. The class seemed on the verge of mutiny! Katie was driven to smoke a cigarette, Linda yelled in her car, and I drank three diet cokes!]

it had something to do with hamlet, i think. maybe this was "welcome to my meadhall, day"? but the rest of the entry goes on into a really detailed description of how we were going to take our revenge by making our coat of arms mottoes profane.

profane irreverent or profane smutty?

oline said...

well, profane for us. meaning the word "damn" was used.

damn!

(Also, non-sequitorilly, I watched Thunderball on New Year's Eve whilst the rest of the Ehrlich clan lay snoozing in their Vermont beds. My least favorite so far, by a wide margin, but a fun film nonetheless).

indeed. i really need to watch them sometime. we used to watch them at thanksgiving when tnt would have a marathon, but i don't really remember anything about them. then again, that probably isn't the point so long as one walks away with an appreciation of the dapper.

we made a coat of arms?

oline said...

for senior year english, apparently we did.

apparently Connery was almost mauled by a shark in the filming of Thunderball. Also, that Bond Films as a whole (the, like, 20 of them) are only the second grossing franchise in history behind, you guessed it, Mr. Potter.

Has emma's hair grown back yet?

Coincidentally my coat of arms would have an infamous Scottish misogynist being mauled by a Great White in the foreground while young starlets with Rosemary's Baby haircuts roll around on piles of money.

(this is me ignoring this mr. potter nonsense...)

we were mighty profane, in our terribly innocent way.
