5 king me!

i never ever shop in a chicago supermarket. however, i'll admit the supermarket has its charms. namely, superfood and jellied doughnuts. so it was that i wound up wandering the aisles of dominick's this afternoon.

you may not have guessed this, but i'm not exactly a doughnut girl. i didn't realize how obviously my grocerying betrayed this fact until the checkout kid- after scanning the 2 quarts of superfood, the yogurt, the bananas and the spinach- arrived at the little bakery bag and looked at me in puzzlement. DOUGHNUT??? he asked, his eyebrows arched in wonder. a doughnut, i said. for the king.

Do you ever feel proud of your shopping cart? Like, your stuff is so healthy that you are waiting for the cashier to be impressed? You wonder if they'll give you a gold star. Ask if you work out. And you get to stand all judgy behind the person buying beer, cheetos, and frozen chicken tenders.

but then, evilly lurking at the very back of your cart, Haagen Dazs Triple Bypass Mocha Swirl. You even try to camoflage it between the spinach and flax. Your cover is blown.

(I am a hypocrite.)

Wow... My grocery cart usually has Cokes, Diet Cokes, IBC Cream Soda, water, peanut butter crackers, 100 Cal Snack Packs, Froot Loops, Easy Mac, and ice cream.

What does that say about Mike's and my eating habits? Work tells me I eat like a second grader.

it really is incredible how you have proven that it is possible to subsist on junk food alone.
