i wasn't quite sure where the compulsion for pink came from. clearly the idea of painting the bathroom at all was directly related to last weekend's rehabilitation of the window sill. suddenly, in the white glossy glow of the repainted sill, the remainder of the room looked all of its 110 years. very shabby and very dull. and that wouldn't do.
but pink? it is a room of yellow and orange. yellow and orange would have worked equally and less gender-specifically well. but it had to be pink. all i could think was pink.
so i paraded back to the depot for another gallon of behr. recollecting my blue and yellow, the paint counter dude was rather shocked by this sudden veering into such a girlie veneer. as though it were an ill-advised tattoo and not merely a can of flamingo dream, he looked at me with concern and asked, are you sure you want to do this? though i knew not why, i was absolutely convinced i did.
and so i painted the room pink. and as i stood in the midst of my blushing walls, it hit me. i loved wives & daughters. that much.

You were channeling your inner Meg!! I have the Houndstooth Pink bathroom which is unfortunately getting packed up. Something about it not being manly. *shrugs*
there is something exceedingly joyful about something so quintessentially girl.
i love how something as girlie as pink gets a qualifier like 'houndstooth' which if not somewhat masculine then is certainly shakespearean 'we witches three'-ean.
also, pink? orange? yellow? you are transforming your enirons into a sorbet.
i'm a big fan of rainbow sherbet.
and when will the crofts be painting? hmmmmm? i'm fast running out of surfaces upon which to inflict the addiction.
are you offering to help? be careful what you wish for...
but really i think i would make out better in that wish. i could come over, paint until my heart was contented and then leave. i wouldn't be left amidst an array of pots and paint sticks and filthy brushes. and the vieve wouldn't wind up with a blue nostril.
but caro might.
there's a random streak of pink in my hair that has had me feeling very glam rock these past few days.
how alladin sane of you.
i prefer ziggy.
the lil cartoon guy with the big schnozz? i dunno. i never found his droopy attitude funny.
smartassO!
*sighs* The houndstooth comes from the fact that the shower curtain is a giant pink houndstooth print. I like graphic stuff.
