9 this land was made for you and me

i had mr. kirb for 9th grade geography so my grasp of our country's borders and boundaries and divisions is tenuous at best. nonetheless, while trying to locate a particular branch of a certain american foundation, i was completely shocked by this map of the continental united states. in part, because i wasn't entirely certain which red state was illinois. but most especially because i hadn't realized our annexation of southern canada and northern south america was formally mapable.

Y'know, I have no idea who I had for 9th grade geography other than we had to make up this stupid island that was our own utopian society. Oh, and according to the textbook, there was still East & West Germany and the USSR. Maybe that's why our geography sucks so bad.

miss johns maybe? parto had her and she seems to have come away with infinitely better skills, geographically speaking.

She was all the way down I think it was B wing?? All I remember was Page's really screwed up alphabet hallways. Didn't they go something like B, F, C, G, H, and then I hall?? They were completely screwed up. That's all I remember.

anyone notice the gaping hole in our country in the shape of nebraska and bit of kansas? things go a little slower there I'm sure but the states still *exist*. i think.

to extend the sexist pig point of view- i think women drew this map. or an alum of mr. kirb.

I was not aware of America's annexation of Canada, either. This pisses me off, because why do I now need a bloody passport to go to Rapid City?
It just doesn't make sense.
