Completely not related to the video... But I'm so proud of Mike right now. We're talking wedding plans and he said, "Olean in the City"!!! *happy sigh* He's perfect in all ways.

meggie darling, you are officially the most consistently off-topic person i know.

in relation to the video, my number one regret is that it does not feature the duc de what's-his-bucket, in whose fancypants, perfectly plucked brows the sinister sad story of marie is somehow most completely captured.

O-lizzle... i must share a comment that DOES pertain to your youtubian attachment and I'll tell you why. Because of your title. Apologies, etc. is the name of the last album that caught my fancy so. You see I am album crushing like nothing this side of Funeral. I must let you borrow it so that you can share in the goodness. All must be mysterious until then.

pirate is mysterioso. or not... isn't he just talking about the last wolf parade album?

oline said...

that is indeed what it sounds like. pirate, please clarify. your streetspeak is confusicating.

But see, here is the geniusness. The mere off-topicness that is I, is the fact that I am always on topic!! See, that's make sense.

can't clarify, must be heard to be appreciated. Will pass 'er along soon!

Bonus: Caught croftie 'doot-doot-dooting' to one of the songs yesterday! croftie hasn't approved of anything this overtly or whole-heartedly since (coincidentally) Funeral and Aeroplane Over the Sea.

also, Oline, you are officially a sell-out. The gym?

Pshaw!

oline said...

don't knock the gym, pirate. we'll be all fighting fit while you're huffing and puffing your way up a flight of stairs.

and please please pass it along. will give you the m. ward collection in exchange.

whoa. this was my song with nick.

i was gonna say that was a fun coincidence, but its really very logical. its one of the best songs by one of the super-est bands around right now.
the mothershell thinks wolf parade is very bowie-esque. whaddya think?

oline said...

i want to do a they're so bowie meets X but i can't think of who the X would be so i guess bowie by his lonesome will suffice.

Was going to do my most played songs of 2006 list and limit the list to just one song from a single band but Wolf Parade blew that plan sky high. Would have had to include a Wolf Parade 'suite' or something like everything from "Modern World" to "It's a Curse" but that is most of the album anyhow and I might just include the whole damn masterful thing.

oline said...

true that.

also i sure showed those 14 year olds in the pit at the wolf parade show how one dances (like a punked out snoopy, duh) to those indie freak-tacular beats.

i'd say "dinner bells" is wp's next best. you guys?

oline said...

i vote for "this heart's on fire" and "sons and daughters..."

Les Savy Ferd said...

now you've gone and made me listen to the album again... my verdict will be forthcoming.

oline said...

clearly that was our diabolical plan.

Bombsy said...

ooohh sons and daughters is great too.

oline said...

oh! and shine a light. shine a light is good. but hell, they're all good!

pirate, we're on tenterhooks for your selection.

Les Savy Ferd said...

after further deliberation i can only narrow it down to my favorite five. in no particular order:

Sons and Daughters of hungry ghosts
Its a Curse
This Heart's on Fire
Shine a Light
We Build Another World

(also, harkening back to long lost question... The two songsters I'm reminded of most by WP are Bowie and Tom Waits. Krug, the wonderfully warbley whiny one is Bowie-esque while Boeckner is craggy "i've been out all night drinking" Waits-ish)

Bombsy said...

tom waits! right on the nose, sir pirate huxtabobO!

oline said...

i totally read that as huxtabOOb.
