1) the fabled 10 ways to get kissed note, passed to partner during senior year homeroom then handed down to me, the keeper of the sacred documents.
2) the infamous page periodical, our subversive 6th grade newspaper, in which we indignantly lambasted the oppressive hall policies of our teachers and for which, after it was intercepted by said teachers, lindear was severely admonished as i awaited the verdict in the cafeteria, paralyzed by fear.
3) feburary 1993, when spangled hats seemed like a good idea.

AAAAWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cupcake is so cuuuuuuuuuuuteeee!
clearly my lappy desktop has a new wallpaper.
and i love how lil' caroline is, like, vamping.
yeah, my talents as a vampiric hand model were already surfacing. lindear, who is blushing furiously in her cubicle right now, did point out that we look ridiculously pale. as in, almost dead.
and n, um... NOOOOOOOOO.
teeheehee...
grrrrrrr...
I cannot make fun of that picture in any way seeing as I definitely, more than once, wore Lindear's exact outfit to my 8th grade classes. Sure the stone-washed jeans were hand-me-downs from my 'cool' older cousin (obviously 'cool' since he was no longer wearing those pants) and the dress shirt's stripes were blue-r and wider, but the idea was exactly the same. Now throw on a pair of glasses as thick as coke-bottles and wide as Jackie O's and you have 8th grade me, minus the shoulder length hair.
seriously... in middle school i had a pair of red jeans. you just will never see me post a pic on my blog of it. kudos to the oline & lindear for their heroics! and yay to getting the oline "grrrrr..." - it's fun.
so obviously if the dread pirate had attended 8th grade in the cow pastures of franklin, tennessee, he would have been a style icon for red pantsolas and the spangled lindearoline.
i hereby demand a red pants picture posting. i am oline. hear me roar!
if a photo of famed red pants exist, my mom has it. i'm a boy - we don't stockpile photos.
see that's where i think your gender has it all wrong. life is so much funner when someone says, remember when we did blah blah blah...? and you can leap up and within ten seconds produce an artifact accompanied by the response, look! here we are doing blah blah blah! but i'm more than a little biased.
i didn't say it wasn't more fun that way, but we just don't think that far ahead. we're a bit daft sometimes, really.
cameras are the instruments of the devil, capturing our souls and imprisoning them in their foul mechanical hulls so that they may never reach the restful repose of Heaven.
No I'm not Amish.
...and there is no such thing as gender.
dougO is very "there is no spoon" today.
Oh this brings back memories... Come to think of it... We all have known each other since we were, what? 11 years old? And we're 25 now? Oh hell. We're old!
I'm so scanning in the Parisian picture and sending it to you. Y'all went to see Caro vamping, y'all gotta see this pic!
we were 11 in the sixth grade?! what babies we were.
so i've now been formally outed as a vamp. but then it's only natural, since my father's a warlock and me mum's a faerie.
I think we were like 11 or 12... See, we were also younger than everyone. Let's see... 6th grade was 1992-1993 school year. So, yeah... We were 11. But you didn't come at the beginning of the year did you? And was I the first or second person you met? I can't ever remember if it was Jeanette or I. And no comments on handshaking! *laughs*
What I really want to know, is where can I get one of those hats.
Wait. Spangled hats aren't a good idea?
and check out the lindear with the thumbs in the belt loops. a pose that is so very early 90210!
See, the thing about the hats... You gotta remember. We were all huge into Blossom and Blossom and her friend Sixx always wore those hats! So, it was very fashionable at the time.
let me emphatically clarify that lindear and i did not own these hats. we just made a fortuitous decision to model them in a store at a time when my father was withcamera.
What store is that???
For some reason the background in the picture reminds me of your bedroom in high school. I think it is the dresser with all the tchotchkes on it.
given that the rehearsal dinner i attended tonight was in downtown franklin... whatever store that was i was just blocks away from the site of this epic photograph. awesome. i was also literally right by the 'ole page middle & high school. both of which have entire new wings added to them. craziness.
I don't think I could even find my way to PMS or PHS. And I was actually born and raised in Franklin...
Now that you mention it, Nickie, it does kinda look like a Main Street store. But here's the thing, there is nothing on Main Street now that was there that long ago. Crap, there's a Starbucks on Main Street now!
am betting the odds are pretty high that if that store still exists, those hats are still in it. and lindear is nodding sagely in agreement.
